Spiritual Path or Spiritual Mistake

Could the spiritual path be a mistake?

This question came to me after remembering this quote I once read that says:
"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience."

I'm not sure who the quote is from but nonetheless, it got me thinking.
Ok, so if we are spiritual beings here to have a human experience, then could it be a possibility that all the spiritual seeking we do in life, be a mistake? I know this seems like an odd question, but just bear with me here.

If you're anything like me and you tend to over spiritualize every aspect of your life here on earth, and don't really invest yourself fully in the illusion of this worldly reality; then could it be possible, that by doing this, we are actually doing a disservice to our souls?

If our souls are already spiritual in nature and they came to earth to have a human experience, but instead of really letting ourselves have that experience; we would rather seek God, spirit, and light in all things.

Even though I know in my heart that the spiritual path is the right path, it doesn't hurt to playfully ponder if my soul is annoyed that I spend 95% of my time thinking about spirituality, god, oneness, enlightenment, metaphysics and higher consciousness - or would it just prefer to be gossiping about TV shows and the weather with all the other zombies?
