Playing a character version of yourself in order to fit into a carnal minded world?

Does it feel as though the people in your life don't know you? The real you? Not because you are not being yourself, but because they don't take the time to get to know who you really are?

It may seem as though you are interacting as the version of who THEY think you are according to their perception. It can seem as though the people around you are so involved in their carnal reality that they never even stop and think about getting to know you, and this can be really draining on you.

Since they think that cars, status, separation and judgments are whats important to them; then they think that must be whats important to you too. They continue on and on in the conversation about all these worldly things, never even stopping, to consider, for a moment, that you find it hard to relate.

Some are satisfied with numbing their minds with television and accumulation of material belongings, so they might not realize that these things might not be of much importance to you.

This could cause someone who is a seeking of higher consciousness, to feel as if they are playing some kind of a weird role or character while interacting with them.

It can cause you to feel as if they want you to listen to them while they go on and on about their worldly drama, but never turn and ask, whats important to you? Perhaps, like I said before, they just assume that if this is what's important to them, than it must be what is important to you as well.

So they may never know about your meditation practice, how you can spend your entire day in prayer, how you are feeling physically after awakening kundalini energy, or ask you if you still waking up at 3am every morning lol.

This can leave us feeling as though we don't get to really express ourselves in social situations. But how exactly do we go about telling people, in our life, that we feel as though we have to play a character, when we're around them, in order to fit into their little picture box of what that they call reality?

What's with all the questions?

Today's question is, why do we question? I thought to myself, when we are seeking truth, why do we ask all these questions that our higher self probably already knows all the answers to? Then it dawned on me, (in the form of a question of course lol) could all this questioning be the ego's way of grasping at survival?

Sure, we can take ourselves further and further down the rabbit hole, contemplating the spiritual realm, the universe, the cosmos and all the other things that come up during our transition to enlightenment; but all the while, deep down inside, the higher self knows all the answers. In fact it is the answer, it is truth.

So is it possible, that when we do this, we are either indulging our thinking minds, or are we just slaves to our ego's desperate attempt at self preservation?

The death of the egoic self can be scary, perhaps if we were to stop all the questioning and fully allow ourselves to let go, then we would be amazed at all of the answers that will be made known to us, and we could naturally rise to a higher state of consciousness, without all the who, what, where, when, how and WHY.

Non-Judgement, Contrast and Co-Creation

Today I will judge nothing that occurs - ACIM
The contrast is necessary for the focus - Abraham Hicks

Practicing non-judgement can really bring a divine peace into your life. But can we practice non-judgement while still being able to observe the contrast of that which we do not want, so that we can better see the things we do want. For the sake of co-creating our lives?

Is there a way to truly be, just the observer, but still manifest the desires of the heart? While being in a place of non-judging awareness, things just seem to flow. Then, something happens, and you get a feeling inside your soul, telling you that something is happening that you don't particularly like. But with non-judgement awareness, you remove any labels of contrast (good or bad, right or wrong).

God created you to create. You cannot extend his kingdom until you know of it's wholeness. - ACIM

So without the contrast, how will we know what to reach for, in terms of creating the reality in which we wish to experience?

Perhaps we should consider the whole experience, without judgement, then proceed with love and allow for a different outcome to manifest.

Being Authentic

Isn't it great to be around people who, you feel, are truly authentic? It can be quite a refreshing experience for those who are on the path to spiritual enlightenment.

I think the reason we feel this way, is because when you've been committed to the journey of awakening, you have committed to going deep within yourself, you've lifted all the veils, torn down your walls, removed all of the labels and attachments you had, then you were left with the pure, raw, sovereign, holy, authentic YOU.

This sometimes can be a frightening and bleak phase of enlightenment, because we have been conditioned to distract ourselves from the truth, rather than facing it head on.

At the same time, this is an exciting place of pure light, love and joy! Being the observer of all of the underlining truth within yourself, to realize that you are pure love, that you are the light and you are connected to everything in the universe. That real you, that authentic you, is an extension of God.

So this is why some of you find it difficult or unsettling to be around those who only seem to care about things like purchasing the next best gadget and who they voted for on last nights singing competition tv show.

This is why we love being around those souls who are truly authentic. So for all those encounters, we will be grateful.

All shallow roots must be uprooted, because
they are not deep enough to sustain you.

Detached Awareness

There is a spiritual practice called, "detached awareness". Deepak Chopra speaks about this in his video, "The Ultimate Happiness Prescription." Which I recently re-watched and (as usual) it got me thinking...

If its true what some religions, mystics and philosophers say regarding spirit contracts and karma; being that we choose our destiny, our parents, and basically our whole life here on earth before we incarnate, based on the lessons we need to learn, then can we truly learn these lessons while practicing detached awareness?

If these things we agreed to, are happening around us, but at the same time we are practicing detached awareness; then what do we take away from the experience, if we are not attached to it?

If we are in fact free from any emotional or chemical response and we basically do not become invested in the situation and instead we just observe it, then could this effect our ability to learn from it?

Well if you're anything like me, then let's hope the answer is no, because I'm about as detached as I can get, but I'm definitely ready to finish up these so-called "contracts", so I can get off this reincarnation merry-go-round asap.

Spiritual Depression - Lost in the Void

Today I wanted to talk about spiritual depression and how it can feel almost like being lost in a void.

I'm sure, some may think of spiritual enlightenment as someone being in a constant state of bliss and joy, however, those who are on this path know that is not entirely the case.

I can share from my personal experience, having been on this journey since I was a child, I have come to find that sometimes this path is not for the faint of heart.

I'm not certain why these bouts of spiritual depression occur, some say its healing of old energies.
For myself, this dark place or "void" can be brought on by the processes of enlightenment in which the death of the self, or the false self, is brought on. Especially when the detachment to all transient things is practiced. Then of course, the ego tries desperately to cling to these things, only making matters worse.

I can say from experience that this "void" is not exactly a nice place to be. Anyone who has experienced this space, can attest to this. This void can feel strange, difficult, and even overwhelming at times; it really can deeply confuse and unsettle us in a very real way. This can make life seem quite unsatisfying and you may even feel as if you are alone, lost somewhere in this space. It might even seem as if you were floating somewhere in between the physical and non physical reality, life and death, illusion and truth.

But just remember, opening up your soul and awakening to walk that line between duality and non duality, can be very trying at times. So even though you may be feeling as if nothing matters, and why do anything; the good news is that those feelings too, are transient. This is all part of the awakening process. Remember that you are not alone, and that it will indeed, all be worth it in the end.

Keep in mind that these stages of enlightenment can be quite tough, however they are just that; stages.

This too shall pass.

Spiritual Path or Spiritual Mistake

Could the spiritual path be a mistake?

This question came to me after remembering this quote I once read that says:
"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience."

I'm not sure who the quote is from but nonetheless, it got me thinking.
Ok, so if we are spiritual beings here to have a human experience, then could it be a possibility that all the spiritual seeking we do in life, be a mistake? I know this seems like an odd question, but just bear with me here.

If you're anything like me and you tend to over spiritualize every aspect of your life here on earth, and don't really invest yourself fully in the illusion of this worldly reality; then could it be possible, that by doing this, we are actually doing a disservice to our souls?

If our souls are already spiritual in nature and they came to earth to have a human experience, but instead of really letting ourselves have that experience; we would rather seek God, spirit, and light in all things.

Even though I know in my heart that the spiritual path is the right path, it doesn't hurt to playfully ponder if my soul is annoyed that I spend 95% of my time thinking about spirituality, god, oneness, enlightenment, metaphysics and higher consciousness - or would it just prefer to be gossiping about TV shows and the weather with all the other zombies?

Spiritual Path or Spiritual Hindrance

My spiritual practices are very important to me. I am a hardcore seeker with an insatiable desire for the truth that is, God's love. I spend as much time as possible reading and studying spiritual teachings, meditating, praying and generally seeking enlightenment. It pretty much consumes me lol.

Anyway, back to the worldly reality....

The question that I have today comes from this thought - in my life I feel that I often become the mediator for my friends and family's disagreements. If there is a fight, I'm usually in the middle, listening to both sides of the story.

So if it's true that my soul chose to come here and have this particular experience, then maybe it is my soul's purpose to come here and be that person for the people in my life.

However, like I said in the beginning, my spiritual practices are very important to me, and judgements are not part of that practice. But I came across a quote by Deepak Chopra today that said, "judgments are a spiritual hindrance." So then I wonder, why do I find myself in situations where others are asking me to make judgments?

Could this be a chosen part of my spiritual path or a spiritual practice hindrance?
